Elementary school students know the meaning of giving to others!

In September, in Bonduel Wisconsin, a very small school decided to help those who had been the destructive path of hurricane Irma.  On September 28, 2017 the students at Bonduel Elementary School hosted a “HAT DAY” to raise money to help the students at Browning Pearce Elementary School who were in need after the hurricane.  The students raised over $680.00.  The students sent the check, cards, letters and pictures to the students in Ms. Zilles first grade class.

Also, students at Alamance Elementary school in Burlington, North Carolina who are pen pals with Ms. Zilles’ first grade class were also upset about the hurricane damage and wanted to do something for their pen pals.  Alamance Elementary held a food drive and donated money, water, non-perishable food items and clothing.  Then loaded a truck and brought it to Palatka, Florida.  The clothing was donated to a store for the homeless, and the food items were donated to a food drive that was sponsored by “Food America.” The money collected was donated to Browning Pearce Elementary school in the form of a Walmart gift card for $140.00.
